About Brown Suga Yogini - Dominique Cowling, Yoga & Mindfulness Teacher

Dominique Cowling Mindfulness and Embodiment Facilitator MA, RYTDominique began a spiritual journey after finishing years as a NCAA collegiate athlete and acknowledging that her mental and emotional wellbeing had been severely neglected. Her exploration of yoga and mindfulness has encouraged a deeper understanding of emotional instability and healthier alternatives to cope with it. 

In addition to her academic background in psychology, she works to embody yogic philosophy with great humility and reverence for the original stewards of these practices. Having a natural curiosity about holistic health and subtle body anatomy continues to drive her search for healing modalities for the mind, body, and soul nourishment.Believing spiritual practice cannot be separated from social justice, she is a dedicated practitioner and nature inspired guide focused on empowering populations made vulnerable to trauma, violence and oppression. 

As a proud Black queer femme, she understands the importance of truly knowing and honoring our wholeness. Her offerings aim to remind folks of their resilience, tenderness and capacity to experience joy.Dominique shares trauma- informed meditation and relaxation workshops at local colleges and private 1:1 nature based sessions for people of African descent. In addition, she currently works as the Healing Justice Program Director supporting Queer and Trans survivors of violence (Intimate Partner Violence, Hate Violence and Police Violence) through peer counseling, support groups and trainings at Community United Against Violence (CUAV) in San Francisco.
